Furniture Village and Sofa problem.

Advice please re an issue with a Sofa.
I purchased a two and three seat leather Sofa's from Furniture Village in 2008. I contacted them in Feb 2009 about an issue with one of the seats on the three seat Sofa. FV arranged for someone to visit and inspect and he advised that where the seat had dropped was normal usage and was not covered under warranty.
This problem has got much worse with the same seat and I asked two local companies to quote for repair. The cost of repair varies between £350 and £450 but both advised me that the frame had collapsed and that it had been poorly made and also were very critical that the frame was made from Chipboard.
I contacted FV and they are unwilling to offer a repair. I'm visiting the store tomorrow and would be grateful for advise. Is it worth pursuing considering the time involved?
The furniture cost £1800.

It's been over 6 years, so yes you are wasting your time.0

Unfortunately the Sale of Goods Act only gives you 6 years in which to seek a remedy from the seller, so you are looking at a requesting a goodwill gesture from them.0

So, I have no redress even considering the fault reported in Feb 2009?
Thank you for the replies.0 -
Well they gave a resolution of "Nothing we can do" and you didn't act on it for 6 years - it would look like you accepted what they told you and got on with things.
If you had been fighting them all this time up until it got worse then that's a different matter entirely.0 -
Thank you all for the replies and opinions.0

You should have pursued it at the time. I had a similar thing with a seat dipping slightly (the one used the most) after 18 months and they did sent their own technician out but they ended up replacing the whole suite with a new one, I guess I was just lucky, I really think it depends on the Manager for the store you went to. I've never had a problem with Furniture Village although I know there will be reviews where others have. It should have been covered under their 5 year guarantee.Sunshine0

Really.....Sorry missed the part were the OP fell and broke his sofa( is it even possible?)
Or are you trying to suggest to the OP he should lie and deceive his insurance company?0
