Well I'm currently refusing (which is getting harder by the day) to put the heating on until November, which is when it went on last year.
But I personally think it is colder than it was this time last year, so if I wasn't being stubborn I'd have though I'd be using more.0 -
Used 6 cu m more this month than last year. Day time max temps are higher than last year but night time mins are lower. Lowest last Oct was 4.6, this 2.6. Average of night lows this Oct 6.5, last 7.7. (I have lots of time on my hands

I've been nagged into having the heating on several weeks earlier than last year - we used about 60kwh more in September this year and I guess we''ll be a bit higher this month as well.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

The Central England Temperature for October is 1.4C lower this year than last year if that kind of thing interests you. This year is 0.2 degress below normal and last year was 1.9 degrees higher.0 -
I can't check because the calcs are on my work laptop, but I think about the same as last year. Mind you, when we switch on the c/htg, it's on non-stop for medical reasons (not me) until at least April. I swelter at night, but hey ho. I remember the worst year, 2008. When my husband came out of hospital in early July, the c/htg was switched on and remained on until at least the following July. It was horrid. Thank goodness we now have cavity wall insulation to go with the double glazing, so it tends to be mid-September till May ( though the gas fire in the living room may be put on before/after that.
I know that people on some benefits receive something like £135 per year to help with costs, but I genuinely believe that in homes where there is a chronically ill person who cannot regulate body temperature, there should be some assistance. (We receive no benefits, Diability Living Allowance is an
Allowance, not a benefit.)“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

The cut off seems to be an annual income of £16190 and in receipt of the disability element of working tax credit0 -

Snap, my heating normally stays off until the middle of November but this past week I have had it on because I have felt the cold... and I am normally never cold!0 -
I'm using 4x less gas than this time last year, due to me replacing the boiler a couple of months ago (most of my old usage was due to the previous boiler's pilot light).
It's still not remotely cold enough to be putting the heating on yet. I suspect mid-late November for that.
I kind of want it to get cold as I'm itching to see how the heating performs with the new boiler, and how much cheaper it is to run when used in anger ;-)0
