Hi Sheila,
I too struggle to cope. I'm on my own, hubs died and I'm a carer for my dad. Two weeks ago I have to have my lovely Labrador put to sleep so I know along with the money worries how hard it is to cope on your own. Please contact GP. At the moment I am under the care of the mental health nurse at the surgery and it has helped me so much just having someone to talk to about money problems. It feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I don't know if every GP practice has mental health nurses but please please contact your GP. They'll be able to help you. And don't forget anything worrying you come here and talk.
Let us know how you got on this morning. Hugs to you.£12,432 - debt free February 2018 :j0 -

sile001 - well done on taking those first steps to sort things out. It gets easier after that first step.
If your bank suggests some form of consolidation loan (they might call it a debt management loan or something like that) do not be pressured into signing anything at all until you have spoken to Stepchange.
Once you have started your work towards debt freedom you will find life becomes better, and one day you will look back on it all from a more secure position. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Didn't want to read and run:
Money and debt is never worth taking your life for.......
Pick up the phone and call your daughter - just for a chat and to find out how she is. She probably thinks everything is fine with you. You don't need to tell her anything but just a chat about nothing in particular can really pick you up.
Best of luck with your journey - you are not alone!0 -
Hi all and thanks for the much needed support.
Been to bank. Ironically, because I'm not technically maxed out on overdraft (there's £5 left) nothing is flagging up.
The unpaid DDs are there but I think they can be sorted.
I have a ref number from Stepchange and will speak to them further in the morning. Tonight, I have choir, which is the best pick me up.
There's no light at the end of the tunnel, but I feel better for doing something. As per my daughter, I love her, but she has (through my own enabling) left me partially at least in this situation.
Time for a cuppa I think.Debt-Free as of 12th September 2017

Enjoy Choir, and enjoy that cuppa too.
Speak to stepchange tomorrow and make a plan to sort the situation out tomorrow.

When you ring Stepchange, make sure you have details of all your income and bills ready, plus your latest amounts owing on your debts. You will feel much better once you have a plan in place. It might seem daunting paying it all off, but each day that passes will be one day closer to debt freedom. One life - your life - live it!0

Hi, sorry to hear how you are feeling.
As you have only a small mortgage why not consider selling up and renting (or buying a much cheaper/smaller property if that were feasible. You could pay off your debts and have a better quality of life and peace of mind.
Dont suffer because you think you need to hang onto a property to pass on an inheritance - anyone worthy of it wouldn't want you to do that.
Good luck
