Afternoon all,
Bit of a mixed day, as had planned shed & garden tasks but it poured with rain all morning & has only just brightened up, so I have been having a useful indoor day instead. Money-saving bits today are:
*Ordered 3 Christmas presents - ok, not money saving in itself, as it's obviously a spend, but I do find that being organised with gifts & getting them ordered in good time saves in the long run because it avoids that rush out to the shops to buy something so urgently that budgets go out of the window.
*Saved a bit of energy - washed hair & let it dry naturally, only hoovered the 2 rooms which needed it & very cheap ironing, as amazingly only TWO items in the basket actually needed pressing. Now that's my kind of ironing!
*Made rye bread, which is now proving. Will have to shape it in a minute.
*Responded to cryptic ebay message from someone who wanted one of my items but didn't bid & now the auction is finished.
*Did some surveys. Only 20p to go until Onepoll cash out. Watch me not get any surveys for the rest of the month, lol.
*Read through new home insurance policy documents & signed the dd agreement for sending back, so that can all be set up in time. It was worth cancelling my old policy & buying a new one (same provider) as a new customer because the renewal quoted my new monthly payment at over £34 a month, but by cancelling & rebuying, it's knocked these payments down to £19 a month. That's almost £15 a month saved. Even at the current year's prices, I was paying £29 a month, so it's defo worth doing. Had my usual moan to them about loyal existing customers premiums being used to subsidise cheap discounted rates for newbies.
*Updated budgets.
*Updated a couple of new amounts on my regular budget spreadsheet.
*Jacket potato night tonight. Very money saving. A big jacket potato popped in the oven for each of us, & topped with whatever we fancy from all the single portions in the freezer. This is where you can really see the money saving benefits of freezing leftover portions. Chilli for me tonight on my tatoe & chicken stew for mr f.
*Did a big pile of financial/admin filing.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Sort out dates of a few festive events we want to go to. Free or cheap & cheerful.
Well, it's definitely stopped raining here now, but it looks extremely soggy underfoot, so I think I'll postpone my 1 hour's daily gardening & put the time into knitting Dad's present instead. That would be equally useful, though will still need to put my boots on & go out to round up all today's pears which are strewn under the tree.
OK, have a nice afternoon all.
f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -

Evening everyone. On jollies this week so first chance to post. Have been reading, hugs to those feeling poorly. Condolences to CLF. Despite being away we've had a pretty good week even though we've had a few treats.
Still using fridge/perishable contents we bought with us
DH gran gave us some goodies she thought we'd like
Went to big town today to visit relative. Went on bus so saved on parking. Got treated to lunch. :j one driver did charge me when I had an all day ticket, so will write and ask for my £6 back
Will gift a pudding to another relative tomorrow as they will use it and I'm trying to be good
went for a run on the front yesterday, will do so again tomorrow.
Load of washing in holiday home, currently drying. Another will go on later. Will use their TD to dry clothes if need be before we go home
Check banking, PAD and update spreadsheet
Investigate landlord insurance if I can from my phone.
Enjoy your evening everyone.
