60400 miles
Therefore out of warrantee:(
Diving today on motorway
Power just goes - felt I heard a clunk
Call recovery at side of road - runs diagnostics and says po340 camshaft something or other
Towed to garage - who opens bonnet and shows me a ripped up pice by engine and says cam pulley snapped - never seen that
I'm not technical so ask what it means - he says he needs a proper look but it may have danaged engine which worse case could be full replacement
Checked online and thinking this could be the end - RIP car as its only worth £7.k ish
Thoughts????thanjs

Has the cam belt ever been changed? Look at the hand book when is it suppose to be changed?0
-
You are certainly looking at an engine replacement0
-
Not that far out of warranty you might be able to get a partial contribution if you speak to Vauxhall directly.0
-
First of all, how far is it out of warranty time wise, cos my first call would be to Vauxhall to see about some goodwill, which will depend on a rock solid preferably Vauxhall main dealer service history.
Cam pulley?, did he mean the cam belt snapped?
Absolute worse case scenario, an engine from a write off will do the business.0 -
Hi it's 500 miles of it of wArranty0
-
He said cam pulley I think but I am confused maybe it was belt0
-
Cam belt replacement is 100k I am told according to service book but is it relevant if there is no warranty I'm stuffed??0
-
Re service history
Yes full
But Vauxhall at 15k
Then car supermarket where I bought it at 32k
Then private garage at 50k
So full but not with Vauxhall dealer - though law said that shouldn't matter now?0 -
The full Vauxhall warranty would have helped get a good will contribution from Vauxhall. They could say the other garage stuffed it so nothing from us. It's still worth asking though.0

Hi rich thanks
I was told or read that under European laws they couldn't discrimatr from a vauchalls mains dealer and any registered mechanic
Is that right? Would be good to arm me for the conversation
Thanks0
