IKEA and multiple missed deliveries

Hi all. Shortened version: Ordered from IKEA online, delivery was 2 hours later than promised and was missing a box. I have since had 3 silly excuses about how Breezemount, their courier, can't deliver the correct box:

1) I'm outside the wrong house
2) We have no trucks available
3) You are on a different route to the one I thought

I have spoken with IKEA CS about a refund of the £35 delivery fee but they said they 'cant refund me as it hasn't been taken out of my account, only authorised'. I have the statement in front of me and can see the full transaction was deduced the same day... A total lie. Not surprised though.

At this point I want to file a claim on MCO for the £35 fee + time wasted on the phone, which must be over 2 hours now + costs of phone calls which I place at around £80 total. Can anyone advise if they have ever claimed against IKEA - I assume the fault is with Breezemount too, but they are owned by IKEA so I'm not sure who to issue it against.

What an awful company!

Any loss would have to be quantified - you can't generally just randomly claim for your time.

Hi, I was going on my hourly rate split over the last year + the cost of the delivery charged by IKEA + the cost of the calls per minute via a BT landline during weekdays

Phone calls really cost £80? If yes then this is a quantifiable loss that should be easy to prove. Your time is not so easy to prove as a loss ... that part of a claim would depend on whether the judge thought you were acting reasonably.

    No, let me clarify again.
I figured out my annual wage for last year (before tax) that I was paid from my company accounts, and divided it by 2080 which is the number of hours worked in a year for me, which gave an average hourly figure. Or around £40. Then the IKEA delivery was £35 which given that it hasn't been fulfilled 3 times I feel I should be able to claim back in full. The remaining amount of £5 is for the phone calls. These figures are rounded up/down here for simplification.

So I'm claiming for 1 hour of lost time, the delivery charge, and a negligible amount for the phonecalls.

Do I need to claim against Breezemount (courier) or IKEA?

From going through a simillar process before, you may also need a payslip showing the hour missed work and showing that you missed the hours work and you were deducted pay because of this.

You need to prove your looses on paper

Thanks for clarifying. The lack of punctuation in your OP makes it seem like you spent £80 on phone calls?

Your hourly rate can't be claimed for. The only time that you might be able to claim is if you have lost income which you couldn't reasonably otherwise make up during another time.

OK I give up on clarifying the costs :) I'm sure it's as clear as day now.
