    Tried this but no joy !!

    I am ready to give up , will try one more time tomorrow with TV that had preset free view and set top box from other TV that works in other room .

    From this I can assume it is either the position of antenna in relation to the room or the aerial connection is useless .

    This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.

    Update

    It now works we found that the new aerial connection was not working .

    Had a hunt round loft and found a cable tied to a beam connected it to the t section plugged in the wall
    socket ( not working when we moved in ) now with my digital box connected to TV got free view as planned.
