Bloomin heck they were the exact onions I got scanned in the 2nd store.

The Tabasco sounds interesting didn't notice that in mine.

Thanks for confirming you can buy 6 or more and not in multiples of 6 I wasn't sure when I bought 6 bottles of shiraz earlier whether to add the Dow's port that was reduced to £6 odd. Would have been a proper bargain under a fiver. :money:

Funnily enough I thought of you Tiny when I was posting this. Your name & wine seem to go together somehow :p

Nope but think I do a good enough job of parting with my own. :rotfl:

That reminds me there was a wooden rocking horse thing very colourful for less than half price in Sainsbobs £11.99 down from £39.99 I think might have been £29.99. Will see if I can find a link or pic somewhere.

It seems a national problem, too many chiefs & not enough Indians. My dd works nights as a hospital carer mostly on geriatric wards & the stories are horrendous. Sometimes she's the only carer for 28 patients. They're always short staffed. If she works a weekend night shift as a bank carer she gets superb payment. I can never understand why they don't employ more permanent staff as this must be more cost effective than bringing in bank staff on highly inflated wages!! I've got a real 'thing' about this. Get rid of all the managers & bring back matron!

I think most of it is down to only paying about the minimum wage to staff who have the responsibility for 28 patients, so nobody signs up for it full time. Given, as you say, agencies charge and pay more!

  • While we are back to Basics, this is what they said:

Thanks for getting in touch about the price increase of our tea bags. I can certainly understand your disappointment as this price has increased by 100% and I'm sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.

We're committed to offering great quality food at fair prices which is sourced with integrity. We regularly review our prices to make sure we offer value for money whilst remaining competitive and we work hard to negotiate great deals with our suppliers. Although we try to keep our pricing as fair as possible sometimes prices can go up as well as down.

There are lots of factors which can affect pricing, from rising costs of raw materials, to the production and packaging and even transportation. Whilst we try to absorb these increases for as long as possible, sometimes we eventually have to put the price up.

We appreciate the time you've taken to contact us and hope to see you in store again soon.

I had to laugh at the 'disappointment' - I was not disappointed, I was cross! At 1p a teabag, people may as well buy branded ones at HB, which is what I will do from now on.

On a brighter note, thanks to TS for the pickles tip-off, I bought 10 x Haywards at 20p each, some for DD, some for a friend, a couple for me and the rest for the food bank. Best before Nov 16.

And mhoc, so pleased to hear you are clear. x

As for hospitals, I remember years ago my mother asking me to wash her when I visited. Apparently the bowl had been left out of reach at the end of the bed, then whisked away. How anyone expected her to manage a bowl of water, flannels and toiletries whilst coping with her condition and a drip stand is unbelievable.

Hugs to all in difficult circumstances. x
