It's a kitchen. It's not brain surgery. Anyone who is a prifessional kitchen fitter will know how to fit them.

I don't think their fitting service is anything like MSE - it costs more than the units. If you have no one to recommend you a fitter then I guess you have no choice, but don't think you're buying something special with their fitting service.

Not sure that your comment was needed thank you!

Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

If you have any experience of building any ikea furniture, it's a doddle

I can't draw a straight line yet I built all the cupboards for our kitchen, hubby fitted them. 14 plus oven housing and dishwasher and two drawer units.

Took a day and a half

Can't remember how long it took to do ours but not very long at all. We built them all first and then fitted them. As you say it's a doddle building them. We were lucky that the units fitted in the space nicely just a small infill bit on one wall.

So, do the units have service areas behind them or not?
I have a lot of pipework behind my existing units to my boiler, washing machine etc.

Would an Ikea kitchen suit or do the units butt right up to the wall?

There was no offence intended, perhaps if you re-read it you will see that any animosity that could possibly be construed is towards the price that Ikea charges, not the person buying. I have no animosity towards them either, but I'm not going to make any bones about the outrageous cost or that more is made of the complexity of fitting an Ikea kitchen than can possibly exist or simply be justified by the cost.

I can understand that you may have been upset if you genuinely did think that you were buying something special with their fitting service.

I don't recommend fitting your own units either, fwiw. Again, if you have no choice, whatever, but they will always look better and last longer with an expert - they can scribe up to walls and have all the right tools to get it exactly perfect. And a little independent fitter will cost a third of the price of Ikea.
