Hi,
With the old system you had a 0.000007151% chance of winning the jackpot (i.e. getting the 6 numbers).
With the new system you only have a 0.000002219% chance of winning the jackpot (i.e. getting the six numbers).
With the old system, you had a 0.1086% chance of getting 3 numbers to get the minimum payout.
With the new system, you have a 0.0153% chance of getting 2 numbers and qualifying for a free lucky draw.
Mmmm....think I will be playing the Lotto very little now as I think Camelot is taking the pi**.
Why the heck wasn't it given to Richard Branson ?
Oh well I can cheer myself up by watching the Scots lose at Ruby lol !

I would re-check those percentages if I were you.... some look, at first glance, completely 100% wrong (2 ball one).0

https://www.national-lottery.co.uk/lotto-changes#New-prize-structure
Jackpot = 1 in 45 million (from 1 in 14 million)
3 balls = 1 in 97 (from 1 in 57)
2 balls = 1 in 10.3 (just under 10%)
Overall chance to win = 1 in 9 (from 1 in 54)
Odds to become millionaire = 1 in 10 million (from 1 in 14 million)
The last one, for me, is the key one....0 -

Hi, please can you demonstrate how you arrived at that figure?
Alternatively, perhaps you can provide your source?0 -

I think that one checks out...
100% / 0.000007151% = 13,984,058.1737 which is about right for 6 numbers in the old system.
The 6 number one for the new system is fine too..
Things get a bit dodgy with their maths for the 3 number and 2 number odds....0 -
Why not save up for Premium Bonds ,as you don't lose your entry fee?0

Is it still going to be a maximum of 3 roll overs ? If so there is going to be a lot more money going to good causes.WWSD(what would Scooby Doo)0

I thought when the rollover limit had been met the jackpot was split amongst everyone who matched 5 numbers and the bonus ball (although I may be wrong).
The dream is nobody ever wins the lottery again and Camelot realise how ridiculous the new rules are!0 -
There's no maximum rollover limit anymore so it will continue rolling over until it is won. Clearly, the National Lottery realised that three rollovers barely matched a "fresh" Euromillions jackpot and they're hoping to see £20m+ National Lottery jackpots like the "good old days" to stir more interest in the game.
It's never been 'worth' playing the lottery as the odds have always been stacked against the players. I play it though because it's a couple of quid that I don't mind losing. I have enough money in savings, investments and lolling around my bank account that I live comfortably enough. A few quid on a dream of winning a million or more isn't a big expenditure. Yeah, it'll probably never happen and yeah I could have spent the money elsewhere but what the hell... it's not harming me so I'll carry on.0
