Wondering if we can please ask for a little more help, my daughter is currently filling out the TSB application form and it is asking details of income and employer. She knows what she will be paid but does not start until 3rd November. The question asks how long she has been with employer. There is no where to put she is due to start in 2 weeks and we are wondering if she puts 0 will they think she is unemployed, should she consider putting 1 month to show its a new job? thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the application form ask for details of current employer?

If she is not currently employed, then she is currently unemployed (unless another applicable category such as student etc applies)

Completing an application form indicating she has been in a certain job for a month, when she has not even started yet, would be fraud.

If, for example, she has recently left school and this is her first ever job, and she needs the bank account to get her future wages paid into, then what I suggest is she pops along to her local branch with the job offer end explain things there and request a bank account is opened.
Banks are well accustomed to opening accounts for youngsters just about to start on their first ever job, place at college, etc. :)

Edit: How odd. This post I was responding to appears to have vanished without trace from this thread.
Good job I managed to quote it in my reply before it disappeared otherwise none of the above would make any sense.

Just spoken to local branch of TSB and they said to put 1 month otherwise account application would be aimed towards a student account.

I urge you to get that in writing before she commits what I would consider fraud

Thanks for taking time to reply. This is why I rang the local branch of TSB to confirm what she should do.

I stand by my original comment "don't lie" if that means waiting a fortnight before the application, wait

She has just applied using details of her saturday job which she has had for 2 years and her application has been accepted, she just needs to take proof of ID into a local branch. Sorry to have caused concern but we assumed she would need a full time job to be able to open this account. No lies made on the application form. Thanks again for your help and concern it is appreciated.

On the Lloyds application* there's an option for 'of independent means', which she could have truthfully declared if you are providing her with food, shelter and maybe some pocket money :). Was there not that option?

    * I'm stuck because I got no advice for #8 on this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=69364933

Remove your name from M&S? and open a sole TSB account?

You can switch joint to joint with FD and Halifax if you cant do it with TSB...
