My daughter has discovered mine craft, but my Dell desktop says i've got an old graphics card, I also want more memory to get windown 8, so is it worth spending money upgrading this pc, or would it make more sense to just get a new, possibly reconditioned one?

Microsoft has an offer until 27th Oct of up to £100 cash-back when you buy a new computer running Windows 10

Without knowing full details on your current PC spec any answer is going to be a shot in the dark, but if your computer's so old that it can't run Minecraft or Windows 8 (and is also a Dell) you'll be wanting to buy a new one.0

It sounds like you need a new computer/Laptop Forget windows 8 it's rubbish go for windows 10 you can get a pretty good laptop for around £350. Pop down to PC World and have a chat.0

Good deal. Computer must be no more than 6 years old. HP do a similar thing but with more cashback and no age restriction on XP computers.)I_have_spoken wrote: »Microsoft has an offer until 27th Oct of up to £100 cash-back when you buy a new computer running Windows 10

Let us know the Service Tag. Then we can see what can be done with your current machine.0

The service tag is 8P25Y1J0

You should forget about Windows 8 or 10 for that machine.
We can, with a little work, upgrade it to Windows 7, but it won't be any good for anything but general browsing and Office.
Example of 2 x 1GB RAM for under £7

The OS upgrade to Windows 7 is a little more complicated, but if you want to keep the machine in use, we can discuss it.
I would suggest that you get a better machine for your daughter. You can probably get a suitable machine for a minimum of £50 to £70 via eBay.
If you state your likely budget, you might get some suggestions.0 -
As little as possible is my budget ;-) but if it'll last a few years I could probably go to about £100, possibly a bit more if it was really worth it. I want a desktop, not a laptop, I think she'd be less likely to choose to sit and play it for long periods sitting in a chair.0

DELL optipLEx 755 for £50 is a starting point.
or
DELL optipLEx 760 £30
or....
Hopefully others viewing the thread will come up with better value options.0 -
Thanks, that's given me a great head start as to what to look for. Which would be better to aim for, windows 7, 8 or 10?0
