We grew tomatoes in Kenya and our cook used to make this, it was lovely, you can use Strawberry jelly if preferred.5 cups. peeled and chopped tomatoes
    4 cups. sugar
    1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 (6 oz.) pkg. raspberry Jelly

In a large pan, combine tomatoes, sugar and lemon juice. Stir over high heat until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in Jelly. Make certain it is completely dissolved. Pour into freezer containers and cover. Store in freezer or refrigerator. Makes 8 half pint jars.

Haven't read the thread - sorry - but was also going to post about Tomato jam which is lovely. I know it from South Africa rather than Kenya.

Have just got in from the sm and got an absolute bargain, a huge bag (about 30) tomatoes for 30p but I have absolutely no idea what to do now (not so much of a bargain!!). Was thinking of cutting them up and putting them in the slow cooker and making some sort of pasta sauce - would this work or indeed any other suggestions, many thanks.
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

Roasted tomato sauce (from River Cottage) freezes beautifully and roasting the toms means even the watery ones we get in UK supermarkets work well!
