cheapest travel insurance for around the world trip?

i've read the guide on travel insurance but not sure whats the best for an annual trip that covers asia, australia and america? any ideas on cheapest and best?

I use Egg, as I got a cheap deal on annual worldwide insurance for the whole family at around £60, as a customer.

I've heard insureandgo are decent.

How long is your trip for TeaBoy?

If your trip is for a long time, you may not be covered by an annual policy.

i'm sure i won't be travelling for more than 12 months so hope annual policy will cover it?

i do have an egg account. just having a look at their site. £46 seems very cheap. will that cover me?

Probably not worth getting the account for the 10% saving TeaBoy.

Most annual policies do not actually cover you for a whole year of travelling, you need to look for gap year insurance.

If you want a credit or debit card to use abroad, you would be best to use a Nationwide card. Best to have a read through Martin's guide to spending abroad.

yeah thanks i already have a nationwide debit card. was thinking i might take a credit card for backup.

any suggestions for a gap year policy? i've looked at the guide and moneysupermarket but they only seem to cover annual multi-trips that only have a set length as you say.

As dmg24 says , normal worldwide annual policies normally only cover for trips up to max 31 days.
If you google gap year insurance or back packer insurance you will get lots of choices to slog through, one of which is http://www.karmainsurance.com/index.htm who offer a policy for £127.Ive no idea if this is good or bad but you can use it as a benchmark to compare other quotes

Its supposed to be the cheapest and one of the most comprehensive insurances about... I found it from Which?

Though it doesnt cover trips for longer than 31 days....
