How long would it take you to earn that? It seems to me that while you are provaricating you are not earning!

You have the size of the shipment, do some comparisons but get your work equipment if you really can't work.

I'm not sure what you are getting at here ognum, as I don't see that the lady is avoiding, sidestepping, or any other variance of the meaning of 'provaricating' you care to mention, it also sounds to me that you are defending Pickfords.... I may have miss understood the title and ethos of this forum & website, but I was under the impression it was here to help people save money and fight for their rights! not support massive multi-million pound corporations!

    Or is that just me?

I don't think I have missed the point at all. What I do know is that you cannot work (because that is what you said) without your belongings.

In your position I would borrow the money to get my things so I can work and then get the money back. All the foot stomping in the world will not help you start work.

I don't understand why you didn't pay for the entire pack, cost and ship at the start then you would have had a contract. Half your problem is it is a part load so either they have to find someone else's load to go with yours or they have to have the cost of shipping your part load and losing money

So either pay up (borrow the money) and claim the money back in court and get earning
Get another agent to deliver your goods and pay pick fords for the storage.
Go to the highest management you can find make a complaint and wait for the outcome.

I'm not defending Pickfords, the fact as stated is there was more goods than estimated. PIckfords moved the extra goods into store at no extra cost. The OP now wants the goods plus the extra unpaid goods shipped as previously agreed. Pickfords have decided to charge for the extra goods and the OP didn't pay in advance for this so they have no contract.

It seems fair to me for the OP to pay for what they need shipped or use another company to do so.

If you read my posts I actually suggest she goes to court for her money as you did.

If you post on an open forum you get advice and opinion, maybe it's not yours but each of us is allowed to post our own, it doesn't have to be the same as yours!

    Again, missing the point completely.

Where prey tell am I supposed to borrow the money from, seeing as I am now living aboard in a country where I can't even get a bank account (because I need a personal number and Swedish ID to open one) until I can prove I am earning a living, nevermind ask to borrow money!

Pickfords only billed me for the collection and to put it into storage, which I have paid already. I also don't know many people who would pay up front for an entire service before it having been provided to their satisfaction anyway.

I do have a contract which I have signed, that is for the original agreed amount, the thing I didn't sign was his inventory list, which is what he said I had seen and signed.

I know about the part load system and how that works, this irrelevant to what I am talking about here. Which is their complete inability to follow their own procedures, terms and conditions, and then to blame the customer.

Ok, fair enough but is everyone able to go to court, I was lucky enough to be able to cover all the costs involved with getting my goods over to spain, and affording the legal and other costs involved, which I might add came to several thousand in the end and I won!!

but not everyone is that lucky!!!
  • MistyViolet.... Can you pm me, I'll see if I can help further?

I am guessing you paid the initial fee by credit card, maybe you could pay with that again.

When I have moved things to storage and then to the US and then back after finishing contract there I paid for the full package in advance both times to avoid these issues.

You have more than the original agreed amount, you have acknowledge that.

My suggestions are simply to try to help you get back to work, at this point I will leave you to stamp your foot but as you will note it has not done you any good yet!

Then you guess wrong as I don't own any credit cards, I paid by direct debit.

Well lucky you, you maybe have more experience of moving house than me, good for you, but that doesn't solve my problem and you treating me like a stupid little person with no brain isn't going to solve it either.

I said I had a book case and small desk extra, that is in no way double the amount of a 3 bedroomed house and 1 bedroomed flat, try reading what I wrote before being so condescending.

Stamping my foot!! Because I am standing up for myself? Clearly you think I should !!!!!! and say nothing when I am being ripped off? Or maybe you are just an attention seeking troll who lives in his mum's basement!

Either way your advice is not helpful to me, it is just adding to the misery of this whole situation.
  • Wow.... people calm down.... things are getting a little out of hand here, I'm sure every one is just trying to get their point across, but ognum you did sound a bit condescending in your last post?
and maybe MistyViolet is getting frustrated, but I can hardly blame her for it!

I've asked her to forward me the documents she has and I am discussing with her what has happened in more detail and with her permission will publish it later?
