A serial time waster is a customer no business will want to deal with.

Exactly that, it's not going to do anything to help your chances in the future.

I sympathise if you feel that you've been messed around, but ultimately taking them to court will just waste everyone's time and isn't going to force anyone into giving you a mortgage. You don't fit their criteria, move on.

You say that your circumstances are preventing you from getting a mortgage- what sort of circumstances? Is it anything that will improve over time or better money management? Nobody has a right to a mortgage unfortunately- if you don't meet the criteria then you don't meet the criteria.

You say the first application was declined but they said you'd be accepted in six month's time- did you get any sort of agreement in principle or document confirming that they would consider you down the line? I don't see how they could have done, but in any case unless they did then I don't really think it is their fault if you went off and reserved a house and began solicitor proceedings just off the back of their word. Bear in mind even if they HAD given you an AIP then that's still not a promise that they'll give you a mortgage- until you get the actual final mortgage offer nothing is confirmed or promised.

No lender would commit to acceptance at a future date. Reconsider perhaps on reapplication. Though this would be subject to lending policy and criteria at the time. Which well may have changed in the intervening period. Also the borrowers own circumstances may have changed.

It could be that in the intervening 6months, banking regulation have changed again and it is no longer in their power to do so.

Let a broker take a look at your financial situation and help you find a solution elsewhere.

Guys, all I am basically sharing with you, is the way in which we have been treated by Clydesdale Bank. Nothing more nothing less!

I am not one for serial complaining however on this occasion they investigated a complaint without even asking us for the evidence we had or anything.

I am fully aware banks have the right to decline applications but they do not have the right to mess around with peoples lives and CEO's need to be held accountable for the actions of there staff!

Actually, you haven't really shared how you've been treated at all. You've shared your opinion on how you were treated and then ranted on about how unfair it is. I don't see anything in your original post about what they actually did that was so wrong, just that they declined you.

People simply won't take you seriously with views such as this.

Yes banks can be held accountable, that is why they have to ensure, to the best of their ability, that people can afford the mortgages they are applying for.

I'm no fan of the Clydesdale Bank and I even worked for them for a few months in a former life. As with any company I think is not providing me with good service I vote with my feet and take my business elsewhere. I haven't had any accounts with Clydesdale since I left their employ.

How much is it going to cost you to take them to court? Is it really worth it?
