Haha wish but its really on me for choosing to listen
Your mates advice was true...several years ago. However parking companies change and adapt tactics and several years ago a bright spark at ParkingEye came up with a new wheeze - actually going to court. They filed a few test claims, then a few more, then a deluge. What they found was that either people were scared by court papers and paid up, or they followed old advice and ignored. Result - easy money.
So sadly you boat has sailed but you can still advise other people and you ultimate win would be to write to the CEO of the shop and explain that from now on you will be frequenting another establishment.
As ParkingEye say in all their court papers...the motorist had free choice and could have visited a different place if they wanted.Dedicated to driving up standards in parking0 -

For the avoidance of doubt it has NEVER been true to ignore correspondence from the Courts. It's quote shocking to think that someone with a degree could even remotely think this would be the case.Every generation blames the one before...

There has been assistance available here, on CAG and on PePiPoo for those in receipt of PPC court papers since at least 2008 to my certain knowledge. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
