I genuinely didn't get to open most of these letters while i was at uni anyway, because while i still officially lived at home i spent 90% of my time at my girlfriends, and took the advice of a friend that these things were usually just scare tactics and it was best to ignore

suggest you and this "friend" bone up on the PE versus Barry Beavis case, and then on the fact PE issue over thirty THOUSAND court claims a year in the small claims court

as bargepole says, its already a judgment and so if you dont pay a CCJ will ensue and then possibly bailiffs , possibly even the sheriffs as seen on telly

The first mistake was using a business that employs this parking firm.
Stay out and stay away, the companies that let this firm sue its customers for the crime of spending your money with them are making it very clear.
They do not want your custom, ignore this advice and end up with a CCJ.
Stay away from any PE car park, the risks are too great.
Shop somewhere else and save money.

Ignoring court papers...OMG the threads on here get worse. Depressing reading when all people need to do is Google what to do just a tad earlier (when you got the PCN would have been a good plan).
