BT Fibre broadband actual speed

I have just switched from virgin media to BT for 38MB fibre broadband,tv, and phone, last night on their 50% off offer, and it works out at £10 forbroadband £7.50 for TV package and £16.99 line rental per month, and i get BTsport free, so in total £34.50 whereas i am paying £49 to Virgin at the momentfor their 50MB fibre broadband M+ tv package and phone.
When i spoke to virgin to cancel with them, they asked mewhy i was leaving and i explained because of the BT deal, but he warned me thatthe broadband speed would be noticeably slower than i have got now , and thatthe BT broadband is not totally fibre. Its Fibre up to the cabinet and thenuses the phone line to the box, but on my email i got from BT confirming myorder it says i will get download speeds of 39-40 MB, and upload speeds of 9-10MB,and that they guarantee the slowest speed will never go below 35MB,
So i’m having 2nd thoughts now, the internet isused for mainly browsing, and some on demand services, we have 2 laptops, 2tablets, 2 phones, and a tv all running off the wifi,
Virgin have said they would do me a deal and add BT sportfor an extra £4 a month, and if i’m honest the reason for switching is so i canget BT sport, i’m happy with virgins broadband tv and phone and i am not surewhat to do now.
Who do i believe with regards to the broadband speed
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
its only a bargain, if you need it or will use it.

Use this: https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
It should tell you what you'll get. If they say you should expect between 39-40Mb then that should be reflected on the above website. Expect to get full speed based on their estimate of "39-40Mb".0 -
Nonsense , BT already trialling 300mb broadband using the same set up

VM say that to all those that try to leave for BT fibre .
I am on the up to 38 and get 37- 38 tested at the master socket .
But as always depends upon your line quality from the cabinet .0 -
It's a bit rich VM saying that BT Infinity is only fibre to the cab and not fibre all they way to your house, as Virgins 'fibre' is also only fibre part of the way also,0

thanks for the replies, i didnt even think that that VM would say that to try and keep me, so i think i will continue with the BT order, and if i notice that he speed is slower than they have promised, i can cancel the contract, and go back to VM.
just though i would check my VM speed on https://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk and over 3 test i got
31.38 MBps
40.09 MBps
29.96 MBps
so VM's 50MBps that i am supposed to get is not actually that much.its only a bargain, if you need it or will use it.

Have they given you written evidence of the above .Otherwise you will find your billed for the full contract .0 -

I'm fairly sure it doesn't say that.0 -
this is the actual wording in the email from BT, I think the bit about the cancelling the contract might be difficult, but if im not getting these speeds I will be within my rights to cancel as they haven't delivered on what they said they would,
Your broadband speed
We estimate your download speed will be between 39Mb and 40Mb, and your upload speed will be between 9Mb and 10Mb.
The minimum guaranteed speed you can expect from your BT Infinity will be 35Mb.
For the first three days, your broadband speed might go up and down. That's normal. To find out more about it, and how to get the most from your broadband speed, go to bt.com/newbroadbandspeed
The top speed you can get from your broadband line depends on a number of things. To find out what they are, go to bt.com/aboutbroadbandspeedits only a bargain, if you need it or will use it.
