DBS check - proofs of identity

I'm doing a DBS check to enable me to do some community voluntary work in our local school (some of you may remember my thread about leading a greenhouse growing club at the high school).
Going through the documents required to prove my identity I've realised how much more difficult it is to prove address/identity in this day of on-line utility bills and bank statements.
I have a valid passport and driving licence, but need a third item issued within specified time frames to prove my address. Anything to do with UK birth certificates, mortgage, utilities, banking, benefits, credit cards is inapplicable to me. I don't have a Forces ID or Firearms Licence. Even the council tax statement is in my husband's name, not mine. P60? Where on earth will I have put that?
In the end I decided I had to call our Accountant and ask him to post a P60 to my home address (normally issued on line).
I think my problems with this have been exacerbated by the fact that I've been married 38 years (where on earth is my marriage licence?) and have lived in the same house for 28 years, so no mortgage documentation within the time frame.
The amusing thing is I live a stone's throw from the school in question and am quite well known in the village.
Anyone else experience similar difficulties?

I have had problems with proofs before alot of places but more specific my bank wouldnt accept my birth certificate as proof of identity. According to them we only accept a utility or council tax bill or photo id. Thankfully i have both
Personally i think dbs checks are not worth the paper they are wrote on, you could be the biggest crook going but no have been caught yet.0 -
Why are you not on the council tax statement?0

Yep Scooby, you may be right. A few years ago I had to do "Disclosure Scotland" for working on live gas installations and as I recall, that form was pages and pages long going back to asking my grandmothers' maiden names and dates of birth. That was a serious check out. This form is merely two sides of A4 and I'm asking to work with children! However, the likelihood of a 59 year old lady who has lived in the village for 29 years being a ne'er-do-well in that respect is fairly slight...“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. Do you not have a Medical card from your GP?0

Don't know Polgara, particularly as it's paid by me! (My husband is retired and disabled.)“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

Thats very odd - are you on the electoral register? I had a similar situation with getting a mortgage so I had to rely on the council tax statement for proof of address as everything else wasn't accepted.0

They are generally not accepted any more for this kind of thing. I've got a new style one but it doesn't have my address on it.0 -
Yes, proudly on the electoral register since naturalisation in 2003/4! Postal vote as I travel a lot in my job.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

I deliberately retain paper billing/statementing for some accounts just so that I have some additional proof of address if needed. The authorities really need to come up with a way for address checking to be done that doesn't rely on a piece of paper, which surely ought to be possible in this day and age.0

I use online bank statements and online utility bills for ID - I just print them. My solicitor accepted them as proof of ID recently as did my mortgage providers when applying for a new mortgage (bank statements)0
