  • So I ensured I had the required time off - loss of earnings. .
    I leave tradespeople to get on with it at my house, I don't take time off. Both the electrician and the plasterer have had the use of my spare keys in the past.

    No loss of earnings that way. Basically if I decide I don't trust someone I'm not having them in my house at all, if I decide I do they can borrow the spare keys so I don't have to be there to let them in and sit around all day while they work.

    Fair enough. But I'm not trusting of someone I don't know in a flat containing valuables. I don't know if they'll get a spare key made when I'm at work. It's a potential disaster I'd rather avoid.
