No real difference after fibre optic upgrade

I found the main difference with fibre is that it doesn't stop working several times a day, of course that may just be because I left EE for BT (who are in the process of buying EE). The other good thing is that if your phone line goes down your internet doesn't go with it. As for the speed, this old computer can't keep up with either of them.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

I was able to negotiate a free upgrade from standard BB to fibre optic unlimited through Sky but have not noticed any real difference in speed
Should there be a noticeable difference in service with this or have I missed a trick somewhere like resetting the router etc?.Maybe I'm expecting too much!
Only been couple days since activation so not had a chance to contact sky.
Thanks as usual

Depends what you mean by "real increase in speed". It means files will download much faster and you'll be able to stream HD movies without interuption. Websites and emails are unlikely to load any faster unless they have a lot of content to load per page.
Not sure what else you were expecting? For comparison I'm on an ADSL line with 15mbps d/l i.e. about half your speed. Which is fine for my needs as I don't have a Netflix etc subscription.EssexExile wrote: »I found the main difference with fibre is that it doesn't stop working several times a day, of course that may just be because I left EE for BT (who are in the process of buying EE). Thats down to your line and your ISP, I've never had any of those issues personally.Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
Apologies for the late reply, here goes;
PING7ms
Download speed: 36.43Mbps
Upload speed : 9.63Mbpsenfield_freddy wrote: »that is considerably quicker than a basic ADSL setup
If it's any help; I have a basic ADSL set up, using a wireless router (apparently it would be faster if I used a router). Had to run a speed test because my connection keeps dropping and cutting out. My Download speed was around 9, my upload around 0.5. Normally it's 16 download and between 3-5 for the upload.
OP I think if your fiber has slowed it's not showing that well in the tests. Have you checked you don't have any other software interfering with the speed? (eg adware, virus protection or similar) as those speeds are quite quick. I normally consider my connection quite fast despite being a fraction of what you have now,0 -
What difference were you expecting to see?0

Perhaps this is the root of your speed problem :
"Everything takes me 3 hours to post cos I'm using a BlackBerry Playbook:D "Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0
