I was able to negotiate a free upgrade from standard BB to fibre optic unlimited through Sky but have not noticed any real difference in speed
Should there be a noticeable difference in service with this or have I missed a trick somewhere like resetting the router etc?.Maybe I'm expecting too much!
Only been couple days since activation so not had a chance to contact sky.

Thanks as usual

    You won't necessarily notice any difference if just surfing the web and email etc.

    And not necessarily if there is only one machine/device connected via wifi.

    For any speed testing always use a wired connection (wifi is so variable it's pointless doing speed tests over it unless you're trying to check/improve the wifi network speed), and preferably a reasonably modern machine :)
    Something 10 years old may not be fast enough to do a speed test or have a network port that is too slow.

    My neighbour noticed a massive difference in speed after he signed up for Infinity. It went from 19 MB to ZERO!! Just after he had come off the phone placing his order (following receipt of a letter from BT), he went to his PC to check his e-mail confirmation had arrived and instead got a shock notice from BT telling him they had been unable to resolve his communication problem and his broadband was down.

    Fortunately it seemed to be a coincidental glitch and was resolved overnight with no intervention!!

    We're with Virgin Media. Our download speed is 123Mbps, and upload speed is 10.71 Mbps.

    But I also just checked this on broadband speed checker, a different server (411ms vs 7ms ping test) and the download speed dropped to 35Mbps, upload speed about the same.

    So I think it may depend a lot on which site you are on, and which server is hosting the site, i.e. where it is situated.

    You should have been told when it was set up that it takes a few days for the speeds to sort themselves out.

    Apologies for the late reply, here goes;

    PING7ms
    Download speed: 36.43Mbps
    Upload speed : 9.63Mbps
    :j
  • that is considerably quicker than a basic ADSL setup
