Suitcase put on wrong plane

A friend of mine has gone on holiday and Easyjet put his suitcase on the wrong plane! He has bought some new clothes and a small suitcase to put them in. He does have travel insurance but will Easyjet owe him any compensation?

I've tried searching on the main MSE site but couldn't find any suitable links. Thanks in advance.

When this has happened to me in the past, the airline usually agree to give you an allowance for the kind of items that you describe. I usually organise their agreement before I leave the airport. You make a report at the baggage counter.

It's a common occurrence for luggage to go astray, at least it sounds like your friend's has been traced and will probably soon catch up with him. Meanwhile the receipts for purchase of essential items and clothes should be kept, to produce for a claim up to a certain amount allowed normally from the airline.

Does anyone knows how good / quick Easyjet are at dealing with lost baggage, and paying out compensation?
