Travel insurance - winter

Hi all,
I am planning to spend Christmas with my family abroad, I have booked flights and train ticket to the airport. Now I am thinking about travel insurance (in case of snow). I have started to look, what to look out for, when picking travel insurance (I know I would be entitled to flight refund/rebooking, but what about the train tickets)?

Travel insurance is unlikely to cover the train tickets, but if the weather means that the trains cannot run then the rail company will refund or reissue the tickets.
If you are going to use a taxi to get to the station, be sure to book that in advance (I know someone who telephoned for a taxi on the morning of departure and was told that because of the weather the taxi could not reach him, and because it had not been booked before the bad weather the whole insurance claim failed -- and that was for a holiday in Malaysia!).0 -
Thanks for your help. I have been reading about that travel insurance and some companies will cover cancelled trains, as long as I provide the proof, that they were delayed. They may not cover travel to the airport in my own car. So, I just have to really look into what they cover.
as for a taxi, I definitely will book it the day before. If anything - I can walk (20 minutes)0 -

I think that this cover would be for train tickets in the event that the trains run but the flights are cancelled. If the trains are cancelled then the tickets are refunded, and no insurer would pay for something that is refunded by someone else.0
