Hi,
I have downloaded two BBC programmes off the Iplayer and you can only watch them for 30 days. Is there a way of keeping them permanently at all?
I downloaded the wondershare software but that did not work.
Many thanks
James

Hi,
Can you give me the link where to download it please.
I downloaded the Get Iplayer but it does not work. I tried to open the Iplayer downloads with that programme and nothing worked unless I am missing something.
Many thanks

get_iplayer
It definitely works on Windows (7 & 10), not tried 8.
It's not a tool for reading iPlayer downloads, it is a complete downloading solution for iPlayer content. It runs from the DOS command line, so you need to be somewhat familiar with that to get the best of it.
A command like:
get_iplayer "qi" --get --vmode=best
would fetch all available episodes of QI from the past week at the best quality available. get_iplayer keeps a log of all downloads, and doesn't download programmes for a second time unless you specifically tell it to.
These look like good places to get it from...

Be aware that-
1. It creates self-contained MP4 files that play across a wide variety of devices. (I use them with my Chromecast).
2. It is very sensitive to iPlayer being changed/updated. It's been non-functional several times after the BBC made major changes for a couple of days at a time. The support community has leapt into action each time, though.
3. It's possible that due to the way it works, it could cease to function entirely at any time. That's especially likely if the Law changes to include catch-up content under the TV Licence.
4. You don't currently need a TV Licence to use get_iplayer to download catch-up and archive material.
5. Video content tends to be quite large, so you need a healthy broadband download allowance (or unlimited) to really make good use of it.
6. It works for radio, too (and is a better option that R4's very selective podcast service).
7. It doesn't decrypt any content, it uses an available open stream. (It's therefore legal to use, within the guidelines for personal use of video content).0 -

You need to keep it updated because the bbc changes its protocols now and then.
It works.Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0
