MBNA Amex/Visa - cashback down to 0.5% / 0%

I find MBA point reward scheme is pretty useless as you could only use it to buy specific items on their list. The problem here is that the items are not what you are looking for. Moreover they are more expensive than buying it from somewehere else. In many cases you could find that the same item could be 70% cheaper from somewhere else than MBNA listed items because the item from somewhere else are on offer, clearance, etc.
Anyway I am using my MBNA card for something else rather than for collecting point.
I just swap the points for Sainsburys vouchersPPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)0 -

What worries me is that given the Amex Platinum is now head and shoulders above everybody else, I wonder how long it will be before Amex decides to drop the rate from 1.25% due to the lack of competition.
totally agree, with both comments.. i'm still bagging 1.5% from Amex once i reach the threshold, and i don't want that to change.. in fairness to Amex they do have form for sticking to deals. but the competition is starting to look like a desert:think:0 -

Scotland isn't leaving the EU even if little Englanders vote for itwhat does this mean Heng? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

an interesting statement to make Heng Leng. be assured that the SNP's line, prior to the referendum, that Scotland could 'stay in' if the UK leaves was untrue. only 1 member state needs to veto an application to join, which would include part of a member state that decides to leave, and that 1 has made their intention to veto clear.
whether we can finish up with England, Wales & Northern Ireland out of the EU, and Scotland within the EU, by an alternative series of events, remains to be seen.
i'll put your 'little Englanders' silly snipe aside, and fwiw i see Scotland leaving the UK and the UK leaving the EU, and that it will be fine for all concerned. my guess is that Scotland will not gain entry into the EU as an independent state, at least short term, and that this could be very beneficial to Scotland..despite it not being the Scot's intention.
anyway, let's hope that Amex continue to look after us:A0 -
I'm not interested in political debate in a credit card thread.
Mr Farage was saying that he wants to remain part of the EEA, so the interchange rules would still apply.an interesting statement to make Heng Leng...
