MBNA Amex/Visa - cashback down to 0.5% / 0%

Well the obvious option given how much you spend on the Amex card is to get a real Amex Platinum card:Any others? I pay off every month and my current spend on the Amex/Visa is 12k with most of it on Amex so keeping with it for the next year saying all being spent on Amex (which it wouldn't be) at 12k roughly is only £30.

This has a £25 annual fee but gives at least 1.25% which would give you £150 - £25 = £125 per year.
You will actually get more, for example, assuming you spend on average £1k per month then you will hit the £10k yearly target to get the 1 month annual double bonus, which would give you an extra £12.50 (so £137.50 in total per year). In the first year you would get the initial 3 month 5% bonus on the first £2.5k giving you an extra £93.75.0 -
For your spend, you would be much better off with the full Platinum (even paying the £25 annual fee).Or maybe direct to Amex for this one: https://www.americanexpress.com/uk/content/platinum-cashback-everyday-credit-card/
Not sure on the Visa aspect, then just close the MBNA one.
For non-Amex spending just get whatever the best card left (after all the cuts have settled down).0 -

That does look good. I take it AMEX direct don't give a monkeys that I have a card through MBNA.0 -

Is this the MBNA More Rewards Card you all have?
Two different reports one down to 0.5% and 0% and one down to 0.25% and 0% for the Amex and Visa cards respectively.
I have the MBNA More Rewards card and not had a letter yet.
Only had the cards about six months got them for the initial 3 months double points and the 0.5% Visa as a back up for when Amex is not taken.
If I get a letter will be time to ditch!0 -

Wonder if the Cash Reward Card is getting the 0.25%/0% pull and the Reward Card getting the 0.5%/0% pull.
Will come back and advise what turns up in the post.
Looks like it will be too cards leaving my wallet as will stick to my Amex Platinum Cash back card just need to think about non Amex spend although anything under £30 can be on my TSB debit card up to £100 per month.0 -

I just checked my letter again - yes MBNA Rewards card.
To confirm, AMEX cash-back is down to 0.5%, Visa down to zero.0 -

Nothing landed for me yet but expect it is on the way!
At least I benefited from the double points for the first 90 days before this happened
It's getting harder out there0 -
I've had a letter from MBNA today.
It looks like my Amex rewards stays at 2 points for every £1 spent.
My Visa goes from 1 point to half a point for every £1 spent.
So, I think that is 1% for Amex and 0.25% for Visa when converted into shopping vouchers.
So is that three different rate changes so far?
My letter has "Letter reference: 2" near the top.
I use the card regularily, so perhaps it is different rates for different patterns of usage?PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)0
