Switching from BT+Sky to Virgin. Is this a good deal?

Hi all,

Virgin Media has recently set up cable or the first time in my area, which is what I have been waiting for since being with them years ago and I have my installation date due next month. I'm currently with BT (Infinity 2+Anytime calls @ £25 + £17.99 line rental) and have Sky for TV (Family pack + Multiroom @ £45)

Since Virgin has not yet installed a telephone line yet, I am only able to get the BB and TV, and the introductory offer I have signed up for is as follows:

TV XL - 230 Channels
Free TiVo box
Free 2nd set top box (usually £6.50 a month)
152MB BB (to be Vivid 200)
Free installation and activation

for £49.99 for the 12 months, with the option to negotiate after this, and then £65.99 for the remaining months on an 18 month contract.

N.B. I will have BT Anytime calls, which is £25.94 including line rental, which I will be paying upfront for to save a bit more money.

I am in dire need of just the BB, due to work and having numerous family members+devices killing my current BT Fibre connection.

Is this a good deal? I'm a little put off due to no phone line included and having to still be with BT for calls, and some offers on their site are better but require a phone line, so I hope this is a good deal.

Any advice is kindly appreciated.

With BT you can use other services like 18185, you cant on cable phone. So calculate your calls, it may well be cheaper, most people want virgin without the phone but its not cost effective.

Big Kahuna (with phone) is £51.98 for 9 months then £68.98 ongoing.

I wo!ld be asking for a minimum of your BT line rental as a discount since they cant provide one.

You have to dial the freephone 0808 1 703 703 number to be able to use 18185 via a VM phone line.
