Got tempted to shed a bit of blood and open up a dead one and it had a swollen capacitor.

I suspect that capacitors are the main reason for failure of most non-portable electronics. (Mechanical failure [contacts/track breakage] probably ranks quite highly for portable stuff.)There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Because it seems to be so temperature related do think that's the reason why I've had no failures in my dimmed standard lamp?0
