Thanks I did know, but seems a lot of bother.0 -
Have LEDHut changed hands recently? They've closed their office in Winchester.0

Thanks for your reply it was very informative.
I do take your point about price but LED hut are probably middle of the road price wise.
Are there any manufacturer's that you could recommend?
I wouldn't take price a retailer charges as an indication of quality ! It doesn't work like that.
Nearly all online LED 'specialists' are created by people with no background or knowledge of lighting let alone LED lighting. I'd never ever recommend buying LED products from companies like this. They often use lots of deceptive and misleading tactics to make sales. Most of them are a complete waste of time.
I can't name my own company for obvious reasons so I will make some recommendations;
Soraa - Expensive yet brilliant ! Build quality good, quality of light exceptional.
Phillips - good products with good build quality
collingwood lighting
Halers
These are the companies we use on projects when we need a product we don't stock. In fact I recommended collingwood lighting to an architect customer of mine today for something he needed to light a glass stair case in a Kendington townhouse !
Always happy to answer any questions relating to LED on the forum or via pm

Elstimpo.
In your expert opinion would the fact that 3 out of 4 led GU10 lamps from LED HUT that I fitted in a fitting today have FAILED within 8 hours of fitting and indication of $#@! lamps or could the light fitting be at fault?
To be fair, I can't remember when I was last forced to replace a 50 watt GU10 lamp in the same fitting before.
These 4 were already replacements for ones that have gone over the lady few months0 -

In my non expert opinion there's nothing wrong with your light fitting.0 -

I'm not going to start talking about another companies products for obvious reasons.
It's very rare a GU10 will fail due to the fitting and circuit it's being fitted to, unless of course you are using a dimmer which potentially opens up all manner of issues !
You are going to get failures, it's the nature of the electronics industry and production lines not to mention these products are often being shipped large distances and shipping companies don't take much care and attention with cargo ! Port quality products will poor build quality suffer really badly in transit. Before I started my own company I used to source LED products for US and UK companies. One U.S. Company paid me to do a job, ignored my advice, went with low price over quality and of the shipment of 10,000 LED spots , over 40% were damaged in transit.
So every company will suffer failures, it's unavoidable. If you have a product with excellent build quality by a proper manufacturer, effective quality control and batch testing once they land in the UK then not many failures should slip through the net. We operate to a failure rate of just under 2% , and most companies I consider to be proper lighting companies with quality products will be around the same mark !0 -
The good news is LED hut answered my Facebook message within a couple of hours and followed up with a phone call. They are sending me a new bulb with next day delivery.
They told me the reviews on their site are far more accurate than trust pilot, I'm not sure you can trust any of the revue sites, must do some research.
Well my new replacement lamp lasted 3 weeks, pretty impressive, not.0 -

Wow - that's pretty rubbish!
As I posted above, my experience doesn't mirror yours and I've a lot more than 8 bulbs in my installed "user-base". Can you link to exactly which model of bulb it is on their site, most of my installs are GU10 or MR16 downlight/spot bulbs. I bought some 4W "Fusion" brand GU10s from one of my wholesalers and replaced them all inside 3 months.... Rarely go anywhere but LEDHut now, but it seems from your experience that maybe some products are less than reliable? Touch wood it's not proved an issue for me so far.0 -
The ones I have are dimmable E14's
