The DS Lite seems to be very hard to get hold of now, because of the DSi and the 3DS. You can get the DS Lite on the likes of Amazon, Play.com and eBay, but you won't get a year's guarantee then. CEX always have them, and you get a guaranteed with them, but I wouldn't buy one from them unless you were in store, because it could end up being in poor condition, as some of their goods can be in a right state. But some can be fine, and their prices are great.

If anything I might suggest getting a DSi or a 3DS, because apparently both of them can play most (or all?) DS Lite games. It's something I'll have to think about myself at some point, because I have a preowned DS Lite, and I have no idea how many years it'll last me, and I've got loads of great DS Lite games waiting to be played.

GAME used to do some good bundles. I tend not to bother with bundles though, as chances are there will be at least one game in there that you won't like.

I used an R4 card to 'try out' new games before buying the actual thing. I keep a few good homebrew games on there (there are some AWESOME drawing / art apps - I recommend checking out Colors, or doing a search for "Colors Homebrew" on YouTube). And it means if a game is a complete dud I haven't wasted money on it before I go and buy it. Mind you I do actually make the effort to buy the good games, since I want them to keep making more.

I used r4i.co.uk and dealextreme in the past, but the former is now shut and dealextreme is a dodgy China-based site (I ordered three times and only got my order delivered once). For me personally I go with nds-gear.com, they have a list of guarantees/promises that seems pretty much better than what you'd normally get shopping online and they seem to know how to answer e-mails promptly which is what ultimately won me over. Have used them for about a year now with no complaints.

Thanks, I'll give nds-gear a go. And yes, there are some great homebrew DS games and applications out there (I used to love playing the roguelike "Powder", especially with the touchscreen capability). As for commercial games though, I just wait until I can afford a preowned official one, and buy one every now and then.

My only concern is that if Nintendo bring out an updated firmware, will be DS automatically download it, and stop the latest R4 card from working?
