  • Tesco Jersey had cars and a few others for £8. This was posted on here earlier in the week. Don't forget quidco 10% making £7.80 del'd!

I second this suggestion, both my son and husband have one it was the best money we spent. What is the great thing is that you can put on games and delete them if you don't like them, better than wasting £25 on a game thats no good.
we paid about the same price as above but it was complete with the sd card from a different online retailer.

Which online retailer did you use.

    Cheers

Best place for R4 cards is Dealextreme.com definately cheapest and free shipping. I think the R4 works out to be around £16 and then you can get a 2gb memory card from memorybits.co.uk for £10.95.

Tescos is usually fair good price wise for games too.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

20% off games at sainsburys this week deal or no deal about £11 many others just depends what your local has in stock.
  • Once again another DS thread ruined by everyone going on about the R4!! Its copyright theft to download the ROMS and therefore has no place on this forum!!! Mods should delete!!!

i have an R4 card for my DS

And it can indeed be used to play pirated games which is of course illegal.

But, it can also be used to play mp3's and movies on your DS, so i think it there is a valid reason for these items to be discussed.

however i am not sure this is the right thread
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

  • Yeah I'm pretty sure it's illegal to use those R4 cards with commercial games. Also, I used to have one, and sometimes I would be start playing a game on one, and the gamesave would be corrupted and unable to load for some reason. And if the Firmware gets updated on your DS then it's possible that those cards can stop working altogether. So now I just buy and play official games.

If you want DS games cheap, then the best bet is to go preowned - they are really cheap on sites like CEX, Amazon, and Play.com.

Having said that, I would like to buy another R4 card or similar, but only to play "homebrew" (i.e. fanmade) games, because there are some great free homebrew games out there.
  • I used an R4 card to 'try out' new games before buying the actual thing. I keep a few good homebrew games on there (there are some AWESOME drawing / art apps - I recommend checking out Colors, or doing a search for "Colors Homebrew" on YouTube). And it means if a game is a complete dud I haven't wasted money on it before I go and buy it. Mind you I do actually make the effort to buy the good games, since I want them to keep making more.

I used r4i.co.uk and dealextreme in the past, but the former is now shut and dealextreme is a dodgy China-based site (I ordered three times and only got my order delivered once). For me personally I go with nds-gear.com, they have a list of guarantees/promises that seems pretty much better than what you'd normally get shopping online and they seem to know how to answer e-mails promptly which is what ultimately won me over. Have used them for about a year now with no complaints.

Always interested in hearing about new deals for cameras/lenses, cheap flights/holidays, and video games. PM me if you have any I haven't heard of!
