I absolutely was not dismissing anxiety out of hand - it's a serious condition I have suffered with myself. But the cure is not anti-depressants and time on ESA - those things may be helpful to some people, but by no means all. What OP needs is a good conversation with a GP who has a special interest in mental health. There is no magic pill for mental health conditions - perpetuating the myth that an anti-depressant pill is akin to an antibiotic is not helpful.0

EMDR or hypnotherapy are good for managing panic. I think in places you can get EMDR on NHS I'm not sure about hypnotherapy.I'd have preferred it to say 'seek medical treatment, research other forms of support, and claim ESA' but what else is there? It is advice far superior than 'pull yourself together, work is good for you'.

As a general point.
If your doctor is willing to give you a note for even a couple of weeks, you can claim ESA on the back of that.
You can then go and claim JSA, and because you're coming off ESA, cannot be sanctioned for your prior job loss however it occurred.
It may also be easier to job-search in your own way as you know your abilities.0
