  • Hi.
    Have you tried snowballing. Have a look at www.whatsthecost.com . Aqua is definitely the one to battle first as long as you are also able to pay off the SNC one too.
    Good luck and happy new year.

    Fingers crossed for swifts progress in 2016!

    Have you tried doing surveys etc to bring in extra money? Or could you perhaps do a shift in your local supermarket or cafe to find the extra cash?

    Good luck, I'll be back to cheer you on!

    I am on the bank at the hospital and do have some lined up. I'm also waiting on my ward manager to sort out my pay as I should be at the top of the bank not the bottom.

  • My ward manager mentioned to me last night that he is still working on my pay and waiting on HR, not sure if that's for them to process my wage changes or for them to send him a form. The £2500+ annual increase would come in handy now.

    I am still debating whether or not to train up to be a nurse, the pay would be great and I like te idea of specialising at a later date, the only issue is funding. I would really need a secondment through my trust which are really hard to get, and to train through the Open Uni that way I can work bank shifts also and keep a wage. Might apply for 2016, if not then def 2017. Not too sure what, if anything, the removal of bursaries will do in regards to secondments.

  • Started a new saving challenge today, the one where you start putting a way 1p and increase in by 1p each day through the year.

    In 2017 me & my partner are aiming to go to America again, this time to Charlotte for 2 weeks of NASCAR. This would mean needing flights of £1300, NASCAR tickets of £500, hotel of £2000 and spending of £3000. A total of £6800!!!!!

    Basically we are aiming to pay off as much of the debt as we can this year, as well as save and use the cards again for the holiday.

    I want to get rid of Cashplus, Aqua & Luma and just keep Capital One. By the end of the year I would like to be able to get a better Capital One card as well as apply for a Barclaycard Initial some time in the Summer.

    Transferred over 0.04p today to the savings account so that now stands at 0.06p lol Paid £20 to Cashplus this morning and looking to pay more throughout the month.

    Also went to sort out my documents for my loan, I should hear an outcome by the end of next week but possibly soon.

    Booked plenty of extra shifts at the hospital, estimates are the following:

    22nd Jan - £78.46
    29th Jan - £169.89
    5th Feb - £105.71
    12th Feb - £40.86
    19th Feb - £166.92

  • Transferred over the missed 1p challenge amounts today so I now have 45p in my Lloyds savings account.

    I balanced YNAB this morning and it's all looking good :)

    My Natwest details should be in the past today so should arrive to me in a few days, I already have my log in account number just waiting on my activation code either via text or post before I can log on. Typical that I have only just sent HR details for my lloyds account so with now have to send them the natwest ones. It wasn't a new account opening in the end, it was just an upgrade of an old basic account that I thought I'd closed a few years ago.

    On the debt front, I got a more up to date balance on the virgin cc and it's actually nearly at it's limit of £3000. I have been sending on it, if I really needed the money but that has now stopped. The same with my OH's 2 cc's despite paying it off we were also spending on it, so going nowhere. I'm now looking at paying into this each month also so around £50 each if my budget allows.

    So:
    Halifax cc £900, £100 per month,, 9 months, paid off by September (excluding any interest)
    Barclaycard £4000, £150 per month, £2200 paid off by next January.

    Aqua - £185.05/200
    Capital One - £189.38/200

    So with the utility reductions I have the following:

    Income = £1620 (my basic + oh's share)
    Bills = £1543.37 (£100 food + £100 spends, does not include SNC or OH's 2 cc)
    Left = £76.62

    What with unsocial hrs and bank shifts, the remaining money could well total £400. Enough for the extra to clear debts and to save towards the holiday sort of (£470 needed each month to pay holiday without credit, split between the 2 of us).

    I need around £127 extra a month to be able to pay off all my debt by 31st December 2016. Also to pay £50 a month to Halifax cc and £50 a month to Barclaycard and £50 a month to either the credit union loan (haven't heard yet) or SNC.

    So £127 + £150 = £275. If I can make £500 above £1070 each month then I will be totally fine. This as mentioned I think is do able.
