Another Debt Recovery Plus letter

The vibe I got on the phone was one of reluctance.
Im sure she mentioned, "yeah, just bring in the letter and your receipt and we'll see what we can do, but I doubt theres much we can to help" sort of speech.
On that note, I dont have the receipt anymore so cant use that as proof that we were at the store0 -
Just get your wife to name you as the driver then they have no claim against her and you can start the appeal process with a clean sheet.0

Have you got your wife to read this thread?
The problem with writing to DRP was that you have woken a sleeping idiot. Had you left things alone the letters would eventually have stopped but now they will start all over again.
It is perfectly safe to ignore as everyone else has already said.
They cannot do anything other than send begging letters.
They cannot take you to court.
They cannot send the bailiffs round.
They cannot visit your home.
All of the above is illegal and your missus needs to know that. She also needs to know that if she pays the speculate invoice, she will be helping the scammers to target the sick, the elderly, and the vulnerable. Does she really want that on her conscience?
As already mentioned, there are hundreds of threads about debt collectors that really shouldn't be here. The NEWBIES thread unequivocally tells you that.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

Apologies for yet another thread about DRP from a newbie but had read through the newbie post stickied at the top of the forum and thought I'd followed the instructions within but this is now causing a lot of "friction" between myself and the wife.
Heres the background..........
I got to the background part and knew I was about to discover what you use to brush your teeth in the morning.....Mike172 vs. UKCPM

Gary, none taken. I just didn't want you to risk upsetting Coupon Mad as enough people have managed that already! :-)0

contact asda head office in writing and complain, strongly, plus also mention the local store was reluctant to deal with it, name names0

I will see if I'll get any luck with the new store manager when I call them tomorrow and go from there but I think writing a letter to Head Office will most likely be my next action point- provided my missus hasnt killed me.......0

I'm in similar situation but am actually finding the DRP letters quite amusing, as the more they threaten and bluster, the more it becomes clear that they can't actually do anything except bombard you with letters. As you say, you've already had 9 threatening letters, so if they were going to take it further, surely they would have done something by now instead of wasting their time, paper and postage sending you letters that basically all say the same thing.
If you have denied the debt, then they should stop writing to you, so ignore them, and report any further correspondence to the Financial Ombudsman. They will take action against debt collectors if they get enough complaints.

Thank you traceynob for your reply and links.
The letter I'd received from DRP looks similar to the Late Appeal example letter on the last link- similar layout and format.
I will show those links to my wife and hopefully will put her mind at ease.
I know she will not be happy when she see the "solicitor" type letter come through but will have to somehow persuade her this is all in their game plan, and we should just continue to ignore no matter how "threatening" these letter become.0
