Named driver and motor legal.

Hello.
I have 2 questions that I need help on.
1. My 74 year old dad's car insurance is up for renewal and I have been looking at some prices for him. He has got a renewal price from Tesco for £455 which is £130 more than last year, same car, same details and no claims made. Early this year my dad had to go to funeral and spend the night after in a hotel so what he did was pick my brother up on the way down and my brother drove the car back. My dad had to put my brother on his insurance for 1 day and the extra was £25. I have looked at quotes and it was cheaper to put my brother on as a named driver so what are the pro's and con's of doing this please.
2. While doing all this I had a look at my dad's paperwork and for over 6 years he has had Green Flag breakdown insurance through HSBC which has had motor legal protection with it. Also at the same time he has had AA breakdown cover. On his car insurance he has also paid for this and has done on all his policies for years. If he gets a new car insurance policy and doesn't have MLP with it will the Green flag cover him as there is no point in having 2 at the same time.
Thank you.

Cons it costs extra when he may never drive it?
Pros, he will be fully covered to drive it.
Just make sure they notify the insurer if either have any claims
or points for speeding etc..Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

As I said in my post the insurance would be cheaper to put my brother down as a named driver and as he would be using the car for 3/4 times in the year it would not cost him extra only my dad's insurance would be cheaper than if he was not on the new policy.0
