O/S Daily Tuesday 13th October 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
DH up and getting ready for work. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, I’ll wake him shortly to get up and ready for school.
Getting light, wet and windy. Looks like it has been raining a good while in the night.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy, dessert was ice cream or a treat from the tins. I did manage to make the buttercream filling for the Victoria sponge last night once I’d prepped dinner and pack ups, so sponge has jam and buttercream filling in it, the menfolk all had some last night. Dinner tonight will be an easy fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Work yesterday was a manic Monday – not helped by the fact that we had no computer systems – this really makes the job difficult as we couldn’t look at what we needed too. This also not helped by the fact that the systems had been either not working/unreliable since Thursday last week. We did eventually get the systems back late afternoon, so we’re fully expecting today to be another manic/busy day with people returning for assistance.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
Bit darker this morning but looks like it might be a nice day again, I am loving these crisp autumn days, long may it continue !
Off to work today at the quieter place so will need to think of something to keep the client amused all day !
Meatballs for dinner tonight which I will put in the sc before I go to work, will just do some spaghetti when I get in.
Welcome to the newbies :T
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning one and all. Thanks nmlc for kicking off.
When I opened the front blinds there was an amazing sunrise so it looks as though yet another good day in store. When we had finished our cutting back yesterday Mr TA took a chair out to the back and sat in the sun for about half an hour. A bit unusual for mid October! It's a right suntrap and sheltered on all sides.
We have a visitor this afternoon. Mr TA's cousin rang to see how he was doing and asked if it was ok to visit him. Of course, I said, but I had better show willing and dust and vac round before he comes! That's the drawback of late sun when it's low in the sky - it shows up every speck of dust! His wife is a slave to their house and garden, unlike me these days, so I'm hoping she's not coming with him!
No phone call still from Liverpool and Mr TA says he'd rather I didn't ring them. He's not one to make a fuss and says they'll be in touch when there is something to tell us. I'm not as patient as him unfortunately. Meanwhile, he is plodding on ok at his own speed, still managing to eat a little better and I'm impatiently waiting for today's weigh in to see if any more has gone on! We have been stuck at 4 lbs for a week or two.
Just got some ys pork loin steaks out to defrost, they have been in the freezer for months and I'm fed up of moving them around, so will do those for tea with an assortment of veg and gravy.
Have a good day all ((((HUGS)))) to those wanting/needing them. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning :hello:
I've been so cold the last couple of days, not sleeping well either (nothing new there then!) If I manage a whole night's sleep, I end up feeling worse the next day, lol. My leg feels very odd, I'm finally getting some strength back in it and the muscles feel like I've been to the gym. The nerve keeps twitching too. I'm thrilled that I can reach down and do my shoelace up without having to twist into a weird position and having to stop halfway through because it hurts
Everything has slowed down here, the garden doesn't need much work. We're still getting a few tomatoes but they'll be over soon, the sprouts are still going but they don't need looking after. I think there's still some potatoes in a couple of bins but they can stay there for now, I have plenty in the kitchen cupboard. Chillis (ggrrrr, lol) are dominating the kitchen – sorting, drying, chopping, freezing, grinding. I stay well out of the way and will be glad when they've finished growing
So I'm just pottering about, doing the usual housework and having games and cuddles with Scamps. I'll do another online shop today, I did one last week but I want to stock up on everything. I'm running the freezers down so will just buy some frozen broccoli and cauliflower, and chicago town pizza for Pizza Friday, which is actually on thursday this week because mr tru has swapped his day off

Morning everyone.
There's a definite chill in the air today, I've not put on the heating yet so far and only had one small fire but I can feel the time creeping up.
I need to air the spare room as my mum is coming to visit at the weekend, probably. Curtains will be going up but not the correct ones for that room as they'll not be ready until Friday. Timing is all wrong but this could be the last 'good' weekend until spring. We don't tend to get snow here, just once in the last ten years or so, although reports are that this year winter will be harsh. Who knows?
Breakfast is porridge. I will fill the bird feeders today and fill some coconut shells with lard and seeds and get them out.
I hope everyone has a good Tuesday too.0 -
Good morning everyone
It's another lovely bright morning here, the girls have all gone off to school ok and hubby has gone to work very happy as it's his last day this week as he's booked the rest of the week off. He wants to spend a few days with Max taking him for extra long walks as Max is having an op on Friday to remove his dangly bits.
My friend came over yesterday and her second date went really well. She is very worried that her daughter is going to be difficult as she really doesn't want her mum to date, she wants her all to herself. The daughter is 15 so not a baby but she is poorly with M.E and is used to her mum waiting on her hand and foot. I've told her that she (my friend) is entitled to a life herself and she truly deserves someone as lovely as her to have a relationship with but I fear it fell on deaf ears.
The bratwurst went down well yesterday and I've taken some chicken out to defrost for tea tonight. I'll probably wrap it in bacon and cook it in the oven. We will have baked potatoes and beans to go with it.
I've managed to have a shower this morning so I feel a bit better, I've been a bit wobbly these past few days and I'm not sure why. I know what signs to look out for so that's all good and hubby is being very kind and helpful. I get so tired and fed up with my illness at times and I am having no help at all from CMHT. They have just stopped coming without even telling me why. I know they are over worked and under funded but I feel I've done something wrong when I have no contact.
Anyway, I'm not going to moan and groan any more, I wanted to say "Welcome" to the new people, I hope I haven't put you off:o.
I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to and TA, I hope you hear from the hospital today. Take care xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
Thank you all for a lovely welcome. Bright crisp morning here today, did put the heating on last night when I came home from work I was freezing. Hope I am not coming down with something.
Mr D finished painting the kitchen yesterday and everything is back in place, very pleasedKitchen now make the rest of the house look grubby, hopefully get a few more room decorated before Christmas.
Have a good day all. xx

I have just manhandled er womanhandled two large wheelie bins to the outside of the house. I am just beginning to realise how awkward dragging wheels over gravel can be.
Taking some docs down to the solicitor for copying and supposed to see older dd this afternoon in York but have not heard from her so not sure what is happening.
Decided to have a cuppa and get myself properly awake while having a browse on here. Two dds and SIL came over for a meal and a catchup last night which was lovely. The hanger steak went down well with mixed greens and SW roasties with fish in white wine for me and dd. I will finish off the meat for lunch with tomatoes and pickled cucumber.
Dishwasher is on and laundry mountain has been washed and dried. It looks as if it is trying to be a nice day.
Wave to new friends and hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Morning all,
well i think the diet is doing well from the amount of times i needed to use the bathroom in the night, though i must admit, i am craving something sweet.:(
I'm in the house today as i am expecting deliveries so i am going to start cleaning the windows and hopefully will bath the dog cause she stinks (bathed the other dog yesterday).
Onwards and forwards,

Good Morning everyone, another bright but decidedly cooler and windier day here and Mollie the Collie has just arrived YAY!!! He Who Knows has taken her for a short walk to get to know her ways and we'll walk her and Cookie together this afternoon which will be lovely.
Not much planned for today and if there had been now we have our guest it wouldn't have been happening anyway so we'll enjoy having a hound about and potter indoors, bliss! Lunch today will be cheese on toast and supper this evening will be a butternut, chick pea and spinach curry with basmati rice and minty riata with gooseberry crumble and custard for pud, yum!
Have yourselves a nice day everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all, thank you for the warm welcome :j
It was bright first thing when we took the girls (dogs) out but has now clouded over and is drizzling, the heating kicked in first thing so guess the temperature dropped a bit overnight.
Off today so going into BSTE to visit some of the home stores as would like to pick up a couple of small rugs to go either side of our bed. We have wooden floors right through the house, apart from a runner on the stairs, which is great with the animals but can be cold to get out of bed onto, am thinking snugly sheepskin types
Apart from that maybe pick a few more of the cooking apples, my tree has really done me proud this year with a bumper harvest and with the late sun they are a beautiful red colour but the freezer is full, as is the shed. Have even taken to putting some outside the garden gate with a sign saying free, please help yourselves, but folks don't seem to want them
Think need to get my recipe books out and find a good one for chutney.
Hope everyone has a good day x0
