Calor terminating LPG supply - Alternative needed
clunster
Calor have telephoned us to say the LPG bulk tank that currently only serves 2 properties on our road will be switched off 'imminently', the reason they have given is "a problem with the pipework". My wife is a chemical engineer and works in the oil and gas industry so was interested in the reasoning behind the decision but when she asked how they had arrived at their conclusion was met with 'it's an HSE issue'. They don't even have a copy of the report or any supporting evidence to back up their claim according to the chap who contacted us. Unfortunately arguing the toss is getting us nowhere and Calor will be terminating our supply before Christmas which is a bleak prospect. They want us to move us from bulk supply to 4x47kg bottles which to us is unacceptable on cost and aesthetics grounds but given the time of year I'm not sure what we can do.
I like gas, have just installed an expensive new LPG boiler and I am trying to look at the options. My instinct is to install a new LPG tank and pipework on our land (Calor own the current bulk supply tank and the land it sits on) but it seems pretty difficult to find someone who will do the work quickly (ie before Christmas). Can anyone recommend a course of action?

Calor aren't the only suppliers of bulk tanks or gas. Have a phone around to see who else can help. If desperation sets in then you may have to temporarily use big bottles but again they don't have to be from Calor.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

Too late now, but why didn't you switch to oil when you had the new boiler installed? If you have room for an LPG bulk tank then you have room for oil.No free lunch, and no free laptop
