It seems Tesco has sneakily changed their price guarantee to only include branded items. Pretty much makes it useless if you don't buy branded items:(0

Yeah those tv ads and the instore point if sale are not in your face at all...0

On Friday, my wife did a shop including 2 bottles of Bacardi (£19 Tesco, £15 at Morrisons & Asda). The refund was £6.01. We queried this, and were told that the refund related to the total shop - ok, so effectively if Tesco goods are cheaper, they increase their price.
We said to remove the Bacardi. Guess what, we still had a brand guarantee refund of 56p.
Now where I come from, this implies that there should have been an £8.56 refund with the Bacardi.
Posted this on Tesco's page - now removed by them. Spent most of Saturday answering inane questions from Customer services, suchg as "what Bacardi", etc. Now heard nothing from tesco for 3 days, or put another way, they are ignoring it without any apology. Anyone else experiencing this? No wonder they are getting fewer and fewer customers!0 -
Your sums are correct, but there are lots of different types of Bacardi, so you need to be specific. The difference of £5.45 between the two refunds is not divisible by 2 so cannot be correct if the two bottles were identical.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0

Are you in Scotland? If so, could this be relevant?
"5. Alcohol prices and promotions in Scotland are specifically matched against Asda, Morrisons’ and Sainsbury’s Scottish prices"

It's still better than Sainsbury's, which only matches against Asda, but with vouchers. So they won't even pay out 100% of the time due to coupon loss, whereas Tesco will be paying out. The branded products only is common to both.
Sainsbury's change was nothing but greed, whereas Tesco's may be partially that, but it seems to be redistributing savings from the prudent to the lazy/disorganised (they'll now pay out 100% of the time a difference is found, so to claw back the extra cost they had to narrow the comparison.)
Have they quietly removed a comparison to Waitrose also or did I imagine that?0 -
For Tesco if you input your receipt details on their brand match webpage, you see exactly what price the other supermarkets are charging.
You then find out exactly how the refund is calculated., HTH0
