It's not extra benefits she is after, and she cannot apply for ESA if she is receiving JSA.

I'm not sure you fully understand PIP if it's not extra benefits your girlfriend is wanting to apply for.

If she is unable to work due to her illness then ESA is more appropriate. if she doesn't want extra benefit why ask abot PIP?

I agree, the OP seems very confused. :(

Yes, you are correct, I am confused. I thought PIP was the new version of sickness benefit. ESA does sound like the one I should be thinking about, although I believe she would have to come off JSA, which would mean she would receive no benefits until the claim is finalised.

There may be a break between payments, although these will be backdated once the claim is processed - they're pretty quick with this. Is her Jobseekers income based, do you no longer live together or are you on her claim?

No PIP replaced DLA which is given for care and or mobility needs. ESA replace Incapacity Benefit for those who are deemed to either be unfit at all for work or with help and support could be able at some point to work.

Very basically, JSA is for people fit for and actively seeking work.
ESA is for people who are not fit for work and so can't get JSA.

PIP can be claimed by people whether working, on JSA or ESA to help with extra care needs.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Going from JSA-ESA, there will typically be no break in payments.
