When is a Fixed Term Contract NOT Fixed?

WARNING
On 07 October I started a new 12 month fixed term contract with Sky on very agreeable terms that I saw in a MSE weekly email.
The router arrived a week in advance to the change and on the 07th the disconnection / reconnection was seamless, took me 10 minutes to set up.
One off Charges-
Sky Hub / Router: FREE
Router Postage: £6.95
Attraction Credit: £100.00
Monthly Costs -
Telephone Line Rental: £8.20
Unlimited Broadband : FREE
So the total cost to me over the 12 months (assuming I make no chargeable phone calls, which I don't
as I have FREE means to communicate online) should be £5.35 and I have paid £5.00 upfront, but...
Now the problem - Sky are intending to increase the Telephone Line Rental in December by £0.50 per month.
...so the total cost will increase to £10.35.
In a 'Welcome' letter Sky say "If you've taken up a special offer, the Terms and Conditions for that offer override the relevant product or service standard Terms and Conditions". So as I have a fixed "special offer" contract nothing can be changed that adversely affects my position? According to Sky Call Centre they can change anything they like which means the benefits I get from agreeing to a contract are lost.
Ok so the total cost is still a very good deal BUT what is to stop Sky increasing their charges by say £10 a month or £20?
What about Contract Law, Consumer Rights?

T&C for that contract will almost certainly say the same as every other ISP .
Subject to price rise ( see multiple threads )
Usually any price rise gives 30 days from notice to cancel the contract ( see multiple threads )
Of course if the T&C said different then above does not apply .0 -
You do not have a fixed price. You have a fixed minimum term of 12 months and a fixed discount of 50% off line rental.
£8.20 is half of the present £16.40, so £8.70 is half of the new price.
You have an excellent bargain, so why quibble about a few pounds over a whole year ?0 -
If you wish, you are able to leave Sky within 30 days of receiving the price increase notification. This will then allow you to move to a cheaper deal with a different provider......0

If you can find a cheaper deal for line rental & unlimited broadband than £10.35 for a whole year - please let everyone know :j0

It's not a fixed price during the minimum term, and never is.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
