Never received ticket or letter but now with debt collectors

Hi all,
Apologies in advance for the "I've browsed the forum but my situation is unique, promise!" but here it goes. Most posts seem to be concerned with people who were aware of the process either from a ticket or some kind of letter reporting the supposed offence being received.
We didn't get a ticket nor any kind of correspondence. The first we've heard of any of this is a letter from Debt Recovery Plus (who appear to be fairly well known round these parts) four months after the fact demanding a large sum of money.
Had we received a normal ticket demanding 60 quid or whatever it is, we'd have probably just paid and moved on but this all seems pretty unreasonable. Is there any burden of proof on their part?
Anyone else ever find themselves in this situation? Does the stated advice in the sticky of ignore / send the letter still apply?
Thanks!

Does DRP mention in their letter who the original parking company was?
PCM have form for this. We've seen it before.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Not enough information in your post to offer any meaningful advice. For starters who issued the original parking chargeFrom the Plain Language Commission:

As you have not seen a windscreen ticket, are your V5 details & current address up to date with the DVLA?0

I checked and the V5 was out of date for a while as we moved house but it's been updated. Should we be concerned about that if this is ever enforced as threatened?
It did happen in that time period though I believe we had a redirect service with the postal service. Perhaps it never got forwarded or just fell through the cracks.
I guess I was wondering seeing as we never got a letter (or a windscreen ticket) regardless of the reason whether we had a right to ask for some evidence that they tried to contact us and whether it influences the usual advice.0 -

Interesting. That company doesn't exist.
The one with 'UK' does and is a member of the BPA Ltd.
Something smells fishy here.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
No such company listed at Companies House nor registered with BPA or IPC.letdowncrush wrote: »There is no UK - just "All Parking Services Ltd".0 -
Unless DR+ have typo'd the name...
Big mistake to make though.Je Suis Cecil.0
