Good Morning everyone and welcome DORIS,glad to see a new face in our Happy Band of chums :)
Bit nippy here in North Kent but dry and bright at least. Its our book club 4th birthday today so we are all taking a little something in for a small celebration.

One of the ladies bakes a cake and it will be an enjoyable morning I think.Lots of tea and nattering about our book choice that we have read.

We hold it in a tiny library every four weeks and always make sure that apart from our book club book, we borrow one of theirs as well. The powers's in the council have an eagle eye on the spot, so we all like to make sure they can see the 'number' borrowing are up or they will close the library down. Its only a small local village library and they are conscious of 'footfall' as its called.
Low stats of borrowing means 'Ah yes lets close it down and save money'.I also go to a knitting group there for that reason. Its not my closest library but I enjoy going there and the staff are really helpful.Usually pop my head around the little co-op/post office on the way home afterwards to see what Y/S stuff there is as its all done on a Monday mid morning and often its well worth a quick check .

Then it will be home for a late lunch and feet up and a bit more of the border on DDs 'blankey' Its all sewn together and I'm just knitting a small border around it to keep it flat.Once that's all done I shall start my DGS Henry's football 'blankey' in his beloved red and white of Liverpool

Hope you all have a good day and the sun shines down on your washing lines :):):)
    Cheers JackieO xxx

    Hi everyone,

I'm having a lazy start to the week because the weekend was exhausting. We helped DD and SIL to move into their new home and get their old flat ready for the new tenants. It's a complete change for them, going from a pristine modern flat 2 minutes from Dalston Station to a Victorian terrace that needs some work in Leytonstone. DD is a bit worried but as they are keeping the flat they could always sell the house and move back - it's probably gone up in value already as that part of London is becoming very fashionable.

I have a Good Neighbours committee meeting this afternoon but I don't feel like going in the least, they are so boring. Oh well I'd better try to get going.

    Have a good day.

    Welcome Doris.:)

Right ive sorted hubbys birthday present from the kids. Neither of them knew what to get him and i know what he wants/needs so they are going halves. He's having a back up hard drive for his laptop.

Talking about gifts. Daughter is mithering me over christmas already and its not November. I told her she could have the vouchers if she kept the stuff at her house until nearer Christmas. She wants to get the gifts out of the sale. Very wise but a bit of a pain in the bum having to pay for them early.

Not sure what i am getting Mom. From the state of her wardrobe she needs new clothes.... labelled of course. She always took pride in her appearance.

    Morning all,

Room for another newbie ? would love to join in your friendly chats :j

Cloudier and colder here today, had errands to run in town so popped into the new Mr T Ex that has just opened, don't know if really liked it as seemed so big, guess must have got used to smaller shops with more personal service. Have two loads of washing on the line and am now going to make some Bara Birth for us to take away with us on Friday, having long weekend away and am so looking forward to it.

Wishing everyone a good afternoon x
  • Morning ((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one and Welcome to DORIS.

We had a slight frost overnight, its is one of those lovely crisp clear autumn mornings, and the sun is shining.

Laundry on the line, Monday clean done. OH is in the garden stripping the beans and tomato plants and generally tidying up.

I have the bed linen from last week to iron, when I have done that I need to do some sewing, and sort out for a lady who wants to join our quilting group who is coming on Wednesday. I will start her off with the bag the rest of them made. She can come to the group meeting a week on Thursday and meet everyone else.

Right ofsky to sort out some lunch.............

Hi all, and hello to Doris and Lainey; good to "meet" you.:o
A Cookie walk this afternoon is all that is planned in for today but I have no doubt that there will be things that need doing as well. Tomorrow and for the next week we are having a little doggie guest to stay in the day while Mum is out to work, she is Mollie the Collie and an absolute poppet, she was a friend of Dockys so knows us fairly well , she normally goes to her gran and granddad but they are going to be away in the day so lucky us, we get 2 doggies to play with and we'll walk them together in the afternoons, lovely!!!
Ooh, I'm jealous; I have withdrawal symptoms, as I'm between dogs right now, waiting not-very-patiently for Patch's arrival on Wednesday. Give Cookie and Mollie a cuddle for me.:o

Mr LW decided last night that we were going to look at how many Yule cards we'll need this year; the number diminishes every year. This year we're down to 24 needed (I have the lists from 2009 onwards on a spreadsheet). We already have 14 in the cupboard left over from last year (Mr LW bought more than we needed) so I'm going to see if I can make 10 myself - as it's so few, it shouldn't be too onerous a task.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Welcome DORIS and LAINEY nice to meet you both!

My trip down to M & S didn't prove very worthwhile! No short length in the trousers I wanted! So will order online for delivery to store. I should have done that in the first place!! Nipped in the pound shop as I was passing so didn't come back totally empty handed!

The sun is now out and it feels pleasantly warm again so, after my coffee, we are off outside to finish the cutting back and empty the last of the summer bedding. The geraniums have been beautiful and still some flowering so they might get a reprieve for another few days!

    Have a nice afternoon xx

    Afternoon everyone

Just back from a blowy bike ride along the seafront, bit different than yesterday when we walked down to see the Vulcan go over, which was amazing.

Hairy bikers chicken curry for tea tonight, will make enough to freeze some for another day to save cooking.

I think the Indian summer has gone now, am back in tracksuit bottoms, but haven't needed the heating on as yet thankfully.
