Air Canada Delay - We won

On 23rd July 2015, our flight from Heathrow to Calgary arrived over 4 hours late. The Airline at first refused to agree that we were due compensation citing a "Fuelling issue" at Calgary delaying the incoming flight to Heathrow which was not their fault. The Airline also failed to give any meals or refreshment vouchers at Heathrow as laid out in their own terms and conditions and also in the EU Directive 261/2004. The Customer Services advisor repeatedly refused to accept our requests for compensation and finally notified us that she was terminating any further correspondence. However, shortly before we took the matter to a Claims Solicitor, KLM lost their case in the EU court for a "Technical Issue" delay and we re-submitted our claim to Air Canada who once again refused liability. This time we told them that we would take the matter further and the following morning we had an e-mail from the Airline to say that they would, 'without prejudice', pay us the 600 euros to each of us for the delay, so it is worth perservering.
