Has my lucky dust ran out ?

This is not a complaining thread as I still very much enjoy comping as a hobby but I'm concerned that I'm missing a trick! I began in Jan this year and won so many lovely prizes in my first 4 months and have had a real drought in the last couple of months, I still enter comps for a couple hours a day....mayb it was simply beginners luck? What do others think? X

same! July, August, September and now October have been dry in comparison to me starting 'properly' in January- it's still addictive though and a way to pass the time I would otherwise spend loitering around on Facebook :) Also it's great seeing what other people win and people being happy for each other.
we're heading into advent season soon! So lets hope the luck returns!

I love seeing what others have won and I love entering the comps that require creative effort,...I won't be giving up anytime soon! It's those that comment unhelpfully (see above 'give me strength' comment) that I feel take this hobby far too seriously x

Congratulations on your wins earlier in the year, but remember nothing is guaranteed.

Enter and forget about it. If you win, hurray, but you need to realise that there will be times when no matter what you do, you just won't win, and that's the reality of comping. It can be months, even years in some cases.

Sadly too many people believe the news stories about winning lots of prizes/cash/holidays and believe it's just a matter of entering and they'll start winning.

They then post on compers chat asking why they haven't won anything- which is why you received the reaction you did.

    Enjoy your hobby. :)

Its a game of luck, no-one is guaranteed to win anything.

Just enter and forget, we all have dry spells, it'll pick up again soon
  • I don't believe I was simply asking why I was no longer winning in this, I was merely starting a discussion about what people think of beginners luck....please don't patronise me, I know that comping is a hobby and that nothing is guaranteed and I have a very full life outside of this forum, I enter comps because I enjoy it.....as I said in my post, I was not complaining, jeez next time I'll keep my discussions to myself x

How to make friends and influence people.

You asked a question which several compers had the decency to answer, if you don't like hearing the truth then don't ask questions.

    " but I'm concerned that I'm missing a trick!"

Maybe because of the above? :)

  • I believe the best odds of getting wins is by entering a variety and hundreds of comps a day meaning thousands a week. I do know a minority who do get 50+ wins a month but these people enter lots. I enter between 10,000 - 20,000 most months and it is rare for me to enter less than a thousand a week. I can spend anything from 10 hours up to about 40 hours a week.

My wins vary in terms of amount. It's rare for me to get less than 9 and if I average the amount of wins I have averaged 22 wins each month this year but that is from two very successful months.

I enter a variety this means facebook, Twitter, Instagram, rafflecopter, gleam, dailies, weekly, monthly, web, Wamo, photo, video, recipe, story, poems, captions, tiebreakers, email, text, postal, click to wins, phone in, daily mags, weekly mags and take a break puzzles, puzzler.com
