Problem solved - She has taken a liking to Pink Port, so I'll grab a couple of bottles from Waitrose and decant the vintage stuff later

Next time a similar dilemma is likely to come up, buy 2.0

Karma, my dear.. drink it knowing it's not yours to drink and is intended for someone else, and you'll probably find the wine is rough as hell and gives you a hangover :rotfl:0

At £125 per bottle, it had better not be rough as hell or I'll be having stern words with the supplier.
Based on experience, this stuff keeps very well and improves with age so I am looking forward to pulling the cork on this one.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

In the end, decided not to give her the Pink Port (finishing off the second bottle this evening). Instead, took her out for an evening meal, and then cracked open the vintage stuff when we got back with the line "You might like this, it is the same age as you..."
She did indeed like it - Two glasses later, it disappeared back in to the drinks cabinet and I'll finish off the rest of it later :cheesy:Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I don't think I have ever seen such a devastatingly distressing dilemma on here.

Sis lives way over the other side of the county and doesn't have a key for the wine cellar (drinks cabinet).Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
