Of course they mean an evening dress, along with gloves, tiara and diamonds everywhere. Men wear a tuxedo.

I'm JOKING - maxi dress will be fine. Many don't even go for maxi dresses just wearing a nice dress. I think virtually anything goes, apart from shorts, cut offs or jeans. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. I often wore black trousers (sometimes velvet that had a stretch waist - that no-one saw) with a nice top as felt more comfortable -I'm not really a dress person although even I succumbed to wearing a dress a few times.

Of course it depends on which line you're sailing with - we went RC.

We're slumming at and going with Fred Olsen, so should get away with just maxi dresses :D The thing I worry about is going without jewellery, there is no way I am taking mine away with me so I have got some junk jewellery to take :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Enterprise - you WILL see people dressed out in all their finery on board. OK, if they want to do this. I've been there, done that, in the past & don't feel the need to do it anymore.
With airlines being restrictive on what you can fly with without surcharges, who wants to pay extra to be 'the peacock'? If you wear something nice you feel comfortable in you'll enjoy yourself more.

Junk jewellery will be fine. There's no way I'd want to take gold either. I have a very chunky plastic necklace that my nan picked up in a jumble sale. Everyone compliments me on it as they think it's gold - if only they knew! lol It would put my neck out if it were real!

This is a thread posted on mostly by middle aged bods like you and I. Not hard to guess that the firmness that may have been there 30 years ago disappeared a long time ago!!:rotfl::rotfl:
