We have a Samsung Smart TV, connected by cable to our router, even though the TV & router have wireless, I preferred cable. No problem with speed or data, but then we do have Virgin unlimited.
Can't imagine a 97 year old getting into Youtube, but maybe she's more switched on than most!
The amount of data she would use is the big unknown. If she gets into catch-up TV it could go quite high, but once the novelty wears off, she may use it very little. Worth a look at the deals BT currently have, but check in advance what they do if you're not unlimited and exceed your data allowance - I believe they charge about £1.50 per GB.
Depends what speed SamKnows says you're likely to get, but BT's entry level package with "up to" 17Mb speed and a 10GB data allowance could well be sufficient.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I wouldn't risk 10GB using Youtube and catchup.
Rip Off Britain did a study of usage and they mentioned that watching video over the internet gobbles up the GBs.0
