I am trying to create a back up of my Win 10 installation on my laptop - the 16Gb USB stick is there (according to Windows explorer) - but not, according to the MS utility - what can I do to get the stick recognised ?

I apologise if this sounds like one of those "Well of course I've tried that!" things, but have you tried it in a different USB port?
Also what type is it? There are some issues with SanDisk Cruzer flash drives that are installed in such a way that Windows recognises them in the same it way it recognises hard drives and not a removable USB flash drive thus it won't allow you to select it for the Media Creation Tool.
If that is the case you may need to use a utility like Diskpart to format the drive to FAT32.0 -

Good point - I have formatted it as NTFS
It is a Sandisk one0 -
OK I have reformatted the USB drive as FAT32 and it still fails to recognise it - in ANY USB socket - giving message "We can't find USB Flash drive".
Which is strange - since it is there in Windows explorer !!
Any more suggestions for a fix ?0 -
